Entering the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1970 with ambitions to become a concert pianist, David C. Carson would emerge four colleges later with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion.  Needless to say, something had happened along the way, namely a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.  David would spend most of the 1980s working among the Wolof people of the West African nation of Senegal where he taught the Bible in the French and Wolof languages and wrote Wolof hymns, some of which are still sung today.

Returning to the US in 1989, David served as pastor in churches in central North Carolina as well as worked on the domestic end of another mission organization.  During this time, he wrote a number of articles for various Christian periodicals.  He also returned to formal studies and earned a Master of Arts in Religion.  It was during his master’s studies that he became engrossed in the writings of the ancient historians and determined to tell the neglected stories of the intertestamental period that have greatly influenced Jewish and Christian history.

David lives with his wife of thirty-three years near Raleigh, North Carolina.  Together, they have three adult children and seven grandchildren.  Though still very much involved in music, David spends much of his time researching, writing, and teaching the Bible.
